About Jim Plunkett

I was a member of EPA’s first uncontrolled hazardous waste site Superfund investigation and cleanup team in 1982. I founded my own environmental engineering/consulting company in 1986 and was awarded a patent for technology to remove hazardous chemicals from contaminated soil in 1991.
In 1997 I was recruited to found a non-profit environmental technology demonstration center on the MA Military Reservation on Cape Cod (funded by EPA and the Department of Defense).
In 1999, I entered the payments business as Vice President, Business Development and member of the Roadsmith.com founding team, a division of Wright Express (the worlds largest fleet card company). At Roadsmith I established the business development strategy and led the business development team in securing strategic contractual partner relationships in the automotive (Ford, GM, Chrysler), fuel (Exxon/Mobil, Citgo, Phillips, Sunoco) and internet (Yahoo, AOL, MapQuest) industries. I also assisted in developing the Roadsmith web product including concieving the first online application to search for the lowest fuel price by zip code.
In 2004 I joined the founding team of PowerPay, as Executive Vice President Strategy and Business Development, when the staff totaled a dozen. In 2008, PowerPay made the Inc. 500 with a 900% three-year growth increase employing over 130 people.
In 2008 I founded Government Payment Processing, now a leading player in the local government payment processing sector. I have a patent pending for technology specific to government payments.
I am presently President of GPP LLC providing leadership direction to Government Payment Processing and also to an emerging Prepaid card program in the low to moderate income tax sector.
